- What is the Toshiba Microsoft Windows® 7 Upgrade Program?
The Toshiba Microsoft Windows® 7 Upgrade Program allows Toshiba customers who satisfy certain requirements to obtain the Windows® 7 upgrade software at no charge.
- How do you qualify for your Windows® 7 upgrade from Toshiba?
Purchase a new Toshiba laptop from June 26, 2009 to January 31, 2010 with any one of the following operating systems: Windows Vista® Home Premium, Windows Vista® Business or Windows Vista® Ultimate.

Windows® XP (all editions), Windows Vista® Starter Edition, and Windows Vista® Home Basic do not qualify for the upgrade.
- How do you find out which version of Windows Vista is installed on your laptop?
To determine the version of the Windows Vista operating system, click Start and open the Control Panel. From the Control Panel, click System and Maintenance. In Control Panel > System and Maintenence, click System. The System properties will display the Windows edition currently installed on your computer. It will also tell you if your computer is running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows.

- What are the hardware and system requirements for Windows® 7 upgrade?
The system requirements are the same as for Microsoft® Windows Vista®. These are as follows: 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor, 1 GB of system memory, 16 GB of free hard drive space, video graphics with 128 MB of memory with support for DirectX 9. Please note that the system requirements may be higher for some features in Windows® 7.
In addition, a DVD drive is required to perform the upgrade, as it is supplied on DVD as stipulated by Microsoft®. The upgrade disc will contain both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. You will also need a hi-speed Internet connection to complete the upgrade process, a dial-up connection will not be sufficient.
- I purchased my laptop during the eligibility period and I downgraded my Windows Vista® to Windows® XP. Can I still take part in the program?
Yes, you can receive a Windows® 7 upgrade if your original Windows Vista® version qualifies for the program and the other participation criteria are also satisfied. To place your order for an upgrade kit, you must correctly indicate which version of Windows® Vista® was originally sold with your computer.
- How do you minimize the risks associated with upgrading?
To rule out all risks, we recommend that you create a backup of your hard drive before performing the upgrade.
