waves How it works

XDE delivers a new level of near HD video quality from standard DVD by using the a combination of the following tools:

  • Upconversion
  • Noise Reduction techniques: Post up-conversion
  • Edge Enhancement
  • Color Remapping

waves Sharp Mode

Sharp Mode provides edge enhancement. By naturally enhancing the edges of the picture, the outline and detail of a picture becomes clearer. This is great for big screen movies. Edge Enhancement and Noise Reduction occur after 1080p upconversion.

waves Colour Mode

Color Mode enhances colour reproduction. Color remapping enhances scenes with vibrant colour. Ideal for movies with lots of beautiful scenery, landscapes and animated films. XDE's Intelligent Color Remapping is a highly flexible process that can enhance specific colours in a scene, specifically green and blue.

waves Contrast Mode

Contrast Mode improves contrast which gives clearer gradation with adaptive contrast enhancement. The dark portion becomes more clear. This mode is best for movies with dark scenes. XDE's Adaptive Contrast Enhancement adjusts the black levels in the content depending on the scene. The end result is an improvement black levels without compromising picture detail. Since its adaptive, the level of enhancement varies with each scene.
