Employ the Fn Key

What is Fn-esse?
With Toshiba's Fn-esse, your Windows applications and documents are a simple keystroke away. By assigning specific keys on your keyboard to a particular application or document, and using them in conjunction with our extended function key-"Fn"-you can directly launch your applications or documents or switch between them effortlessly.

For example, you can launch a word processing program directly by assigning it to the "W" key, then pressing Fn + W; or by clicking the W key with the mouse. Or you could display a pop-up list containing all the applications included in the Windows Accessories Folder, and launch any one of them by simply pressing the key, or by clicking on it with the mouse.

Fn-esse lets you customize the way you work, and improve your productivity.

The Fn-esse Keyboard
Each time you launch the Fn-esse program, the Fn-esse keyboard is displayed. It will remain on screen until you quit the application. The keys that you've assigned to applications, those that display pop-up lists, and those that are still available for assignment will be distinguished by customizable colours.

Pop-up lists are further identified by a small coloured mark on the top left corner of the key. Also, moving the mouse slowly over the keyboard display will show you each key's current assignment, and will indicate if a key hasn't been assigned yet.

In order to launch or switch to an application, simply press and hold the Fn key, and hit the assigned key for the desired application or document. You can also use your mouse to click on the appropriate key.
