 What is RoHS?

RoHS is an environmental regulation set forth by the European Parliament with the expectation to drive a worldwide movement.

This regulation goes into effect on July 1, 2006. Its goal is to dramatically reduce the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and both polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants in the production of new electrical and electronic equipment. Manufacturers will need to ensure that their products and components comply with the requirements of the RoHS regulations in order to be allowed on the market.
