Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC)

Toshiba of Canada Limited is proud to announce our partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC).

The NCC and Toshiba partnership tangibly supports the two organizations’ shared core belief - that conservation of the biodiversity of ecosystems is the key to environmental management.

Biodiversity threats in Canada

  • Highly productive, biologically rich lands are under great threat of being lost forever.
  • 90% of Canadians live and work in an area covering only 10% of the country along the Canada-U.S. border. This 10% of Canada is home to over 70% of Canada’s species at risk.
  • This is also Canada’s most highly threatened landscapes that are vital to Canada’s ecological integrity and its clean water and air.
  • It is on these highly threatened landscapes where NCC focuses its conservation action.

Land Information System

  • Developed by NCC science staff, the Land information system (LIS) is a key tool that will roll out Canada wide in 2011
  • LIS will allow enable NCC to report on NCC achievements in an integrated way using categories such as species, threats, status under the ICUN and stewardship actions

Using Toshiba technology and LIS, conservation staff will be more effective and efficient in reporting, planning, managing and monitoring properties, resulting in better time and resources management – all adding up to better conservation.

Battling a rare cancer called Adrenalcortical Carcinoma, she wrote a song to lift her spirits and theirs, never dreaming it would soon be produced by legendary music producer Garth Richardson.
